 In bygone days the recreational heart of 
every town and hamlet was the municipal
park, a place for strolling lovers, a carousel
for children, and a rousing Saturday
afternoon band concert for all the citizenry.
 Lots of folks were drawn to those colorful
parks by the tangy aroma of candied apples
and the fragrance of candy corn. Jane Wooster
Scott has managed to have us savor those
enticing scents with paints and canvas, a
very neat trick indeed.
